OT: HVAC new systems advice

I'm looking at getting units replaced pretty quickly. My current ones are about 10 years old, and need some money put into them -- isn't worth it to me.

I've had 3-4 companies come out today offering various quotes. My downstairs system works the hardest (i have tall ceilings) so I wouldn't mind getting a 18 or 21 SEER, and upstairs I am looking at maybe a 16-18 SEER.

I don't know much about this stuff but am learning. So far I have seen Total Air & Heat, Colony AC & Heating, A#1 Air, and Berkeys (all in the DFW area).

Anyone have any thoughts/advise? This stuff is expensive!
