Several months ago I posted about looking for a UTV/ATV for my weekend place. I researched it and decided against something like a Polaris or Kawasaki UTV because:
1. They are expensive as hell;
2. They are noisy ( at least the ones I test drove were) and I don’t like noise and don’t want to spook the wildlife;
3. The newer electric models make the gas or diesel ones look like a bargain;
4. The maintenance looks pretty pricey;
4. I don’t need speed or power...this is just for me to tool around the 25 acres with a cooler of beer in the back and my dog in the seat next to me.
So, I have opted for a lifted utility golf cart ( dump bed instead of a four seater) with oversized tires. For the noise reason stated above, I don’t want a gas model.
For anybody that has owned an electric golf cart, a few questions:
Any brands to stay away from?
How long can I expect those deep draw batteries to last? Looks like a full replace set will run $1200 to $1400.
Since I will be leaving it sitting for 2-3 weeks at a time, any special storage issues? It would be under a carport..that enough?
Any other maintenance or ownership issues? I found what looks like a good one...other than putting Purple Goo in the tires, it seems to have what I need.
