While not yet approved by the FDA, this drug is being hailed as the miracle drug in the anti depressant drug industry - an industry that hasn't seen a major breakthrough in nearly 50 years.

In clinical trials, its administered via nasal spray and has shown the ability to rapidly decrease major depressive symptoms including suicidal thoughts within two hours after being administered. For those unaware, traditional anti depressants can take 4-6 weeks to have full affect on the human brain...This drug is a derivative of Ketamine (a known party drug) so there are obviously some hurdles here but the thought is this drug will be highly regulated and administered through a special process; i.e. you wont be able to pick this up at your local Walgreens pharmacy

Suicide statistics have sky rocketed in recent years to the point where, on average 121 people commit suicide in the US EVERY DAY including 20 military veterans, so the potential of a breakthrough drug aimed at suppressing imminent suicidal thoughts is clearly exciting to say the least. On a personal note, I myself have lost loved ones to clinical depression and suicide and the thought of a miracle drug on the horizon gives me hope of reversing the spread of this disease.

Sorry for the TL/DR thread but sadly this topic has negatively impacted many on this board and I just want my RRS friends to know serious help might be just around the corner.
