Hey guys,

Wanting some input on my current situation, any feedback is welcomed. Recently, my wife and I built a house in Mansfield in a brand new neighborhood. To summarize, from the very beginning of the process there have been many things that we were told, that ended up not being the case (ex: being told the orientation of the house would be one way when it wasn't, being told incorrect closing dates, having two different types of sod installed in the yard, and it's still not fixed, various other things). I understand with building a house, there will be frustrations, but some of these have been more than should be acceptable.

A few weeks ago, I went to vote in Johnson County which is where we were told our house is, and is the county all my closing documents show. When I show up, they tell me they have no record of me, do a statewide search and tell me I'm active in Ellis County. I find that weird, so I decide to look on the Ellis County Property Tax website, and lo and behold my house is listed on there. The most alarming part of this is apparently I am paying Midlothian ISD taxes, even though one of the primary reasons for moving to this neighborhood is to be in Mansfield ISD, which is highly regarded, for our young daughter.

I've reached out to the builder and the developer, and the builder told me there was nothing they could do. The developer checked into it and said the Mansfield ISD line aligns with where the county line is (I am outside of it) and they are double checking to see if they can do anything. As far as the county line, there is nothing they can do, they said their surveyor must've been off in his lines.

With all of this, in addition to all of the frustrations with the building process and areas where we were told incorrect information, the fact that we'll be outside of the promised school district we built this house to get into, and we'll potentially be paying higher property tax rates than what we were originally told due to being in a different county are my main concerns.

What can/should I do? TIA.
