Canceled flight Friday due to mechanical issues on flight to see Dad for Fathers Day. FInally get in at midnight Friday instead of noon.
Canceled flight today due to mechanical issues on flight home. End up spending 8 hours in the airport instead of with my Dad on Fathers Day.
The problem: MD-80s, the ancient plane that still makes up half their fleet, all over 30 years old and some closer to 50. Almost every flight I've had on an MD-80 the past three years has had a mechanical delay. The service on their other planes has been fine,
