Long-story is that we are updating our house in anticipation of selling in next 2-3 years. We have very old thermostats and want to put in some smart thermostats for our three units. If it was just one I would likely buy a Nest 3 and be done with it, but given we have three wanted to get advice on something less expensive....other brands. Also, anything wrong with buying some Nest 2 units on Ebay (can get cheap) and installing them? Read a couple of places that this could be some kind of security risk but I am a completely technology idiot so have no clue.

Thanks in advance.
