We gave up 5 explosive plays:
3 Passes-31 yards(Moore TD), 27 yards(Schooler), 20 yards(Money)

2 Rushes-24 yards(Ehlinger), 26 yards(Ingram)

-This would qualify as meeting one requirement for keeping the Longhorns in check. We kept the game in front of us, for the most part. Only one explosive play ended in a Touchdown, which is another thing that I would normally think would signify improvement.

We only had 5 explosive plays as well:
4 Passing-22 yards(Thompson), 22 yards(Carter TD), 22 yards(Vasher), 29 yards(Vasher TD)
1 Rushing- 75 yards(Thompson TD)

-This is an area where we did a better job of scoring from further out, but I really expect more big plays from our offense.

-Our punt team should have been better prepared for them to go after a block, considering they came really close on one earlier in the game too. The one that got blocked, I think, was held onto for way too long. Any punt is better than a blocked punt, just get it off.

-I actually had a lot of fun watching this game, outside of the final 3 minutes and OT. Yes, it was frustrating, and I really hate watching us lose another close game, unable to finish...but it really was the most fun I have had watching us since last year’s OkSt game. I think this is because our defense was clicking for awhile, finishing tackles and getting Ehlinger rattled. Our special teams made plays, which was pretty damn foreign to me.

-I am not out on Wells, but there is some real concern that I have due to another close game ending in a Loss. We cannot keep doing this to ourselves. Being in games, and no blown out is okay, but it’s not enough. I saw progress made, but not enough.

-Penalties:
Texas 10-100 yards
Tech 4-15 yards

-Another stat that you would think would put us into a position to win. Another stat that looks to show improvement. No pass interferences on our DBs? Shocking. We had a holding call that I thought was a weak call, but also got away with a hold that would seem to balance that one.

Overall, it was a game that I felt might have been the most fairly called conference game in years for Tech. We played very clean in this department, and really, we should have had one other call that hurt us...The Vasher PI no call.

I’m sure there is more, but I am just trying to take a step back and make sense of what we saw, to try understanding what this Tech team is. We still have 8 game remaining, and to show if we can rise above, or if this is all we are. I am tired, and I might add more tomorrow.
