Some notes on Texas Tech after the loss to UCF earlier this week…
-Texas Tech drops from 15th overall in KenPom to 26th overall, placing them 7th in the conference in the rankings, trailing Cincinnati and Arizona, notably.
-The 87 points scored by UCF dropped Tech from 34 to 54 in KenPom’s defensive efficiency rankings. The performance was the second worst defensive performance this season, bested by the loss to Saint Joseph’s, per EvanMiya’s metric.
-Tech’s most effective lineup this season per EM’s metric has been the combo of Anderson, McMillian, Overton, Williams and Toppin, one that has been utilized for 39 possessions.
Onto Utah, Texas Tech’s first true road game of the season.

-Utah ranks 69th in KenPom, 95th in offensive efficiency and 59th in defensive efficiency.
-The Utes like to push the pace, playing with the 30th highest tempo in the country.
-Utah has lost its last two games and is coming off an anemic offensive performance against Baylor in Waco, losing 81-56 on a day where the Bears had four scorers in double-figures and got a double-double from Norchad Omier.
-Utah is the most assist-happy team in the country, having a 69.7% assist per field goal made rate, the best mark in the country. Utah scores 37.7% of its points from beyond the arc, a higher clip than average, sitting at 52nd nationally in the metric.
-Utah is a relatively strong rebounding team, sitting at 75th in offensive rebounding percentage and 62nd in defensive rebounding percentage.
-Miro Little, the Baylor transfer and starting point guard for the Utes, has a 30.9% assist-rate, the 68th best mark among all players nationally.
-All five starters for Utah started their career at a different school, two of which played for rival BYU in their career. Two of which are Baylor transfers and three of the starters have been at Utah before this season.
-Utah’s most efficient lineup has been the combination of Little, Erickson, Madsen, Ausar and Lovering.
