It's admirable that this will be a minority hire, but it makes no sense for a recklessly run organization. If you fire the head coach, you don't hire one of the top lieutenants because the belief is this was a staff failure too. Name me all the times a head coach was fired and one of the assistants was promoted. I'm sure it's happened on occasion, but probably count on one hand.
And it would be one thing if Lovie had a great background as a head coach. But he was a bad HC at Illinois and a bad HC with the Bears. He will be a bad HC with the Texans if anyone will care to notice. By all accounts, he's a good solid man but his record speaks for itself.
