Mandeville linebacker Johnathon Picone committed to Texas Tech this summer, and the Red Raiders are looking smarter than most, with many programs looking past the 6-1, 215-pound playmaker.
Picone has a reputation for being a high energy, physical football player. During his junior season, Picone played just about everywhere on the defensive front for the Skippers, but he has spent most of his senior season at his future college position of linebacker.
He is currently ranked as the no. 45 ranked prospect in the NOLA.com Nifty 50 for 2016, but that ranking seems to be a little low, after sliding a little during the spring and summer months.
