other than spiders, is that we go 3-9 or 4-8 this year. We all know it's just not going to work out with Kliff, but we can't fire him because of the contract.
Level and the other guys have pointed to next year as a year that you should realistically expect to contend for the conference championship if Mahomes returns. It would be a major disappointment to finish 7-5 at that point.
However, 7-5 is a hell of a lot better than 3-9/4-8. It looks like progress is being made. We then see the 1 more year talk. We see the "you can't fire a 7 win coach" talk. Kliff gets another year.
Who knows how 2018 will turn out? I highly doubt we take a step forward though from 2017. Do we have a losing season and the change is made then? Do we win 7 more games, and we ride with Kliff for another season? At this point, his contract is going to be getting short on time. Do we extend because he bounced back with 2 7 win seasons?
Because of that damn extension, we could be LSUing the 2017 and 2018 seasons. I don't even want to think about the negative recruiting we'll see when it's obvious that we have a lame duck coach.
