Researchers have found that honeybees have begun using animal dung to ward off murder hornet invasions of their hives. Asian honeybees are placing dung spots around the openings of their hives to deter murder hornets. US murder hornets haven't learned this trick. This is the first documented use by honeybees of tools to assist in their survival.
One researcher got stung by a murder hornet and said it was "the most excruciating pain of his life".
Maybe next summer people should smear dung around their door frames to prevent mosquitoes and other flying insects from entering their houses. Someone try this and report back.
