Moving to Odessa

So, I'm moving to Odessa in about 2 months. What areas do you guys reccomend? It's me, my wife, and 4 weenie dogs. We're not looking to buy a huge house, but not looking to end up in a troubled neighborhood. Work will be in Odessa for the both of us so we are trying to set ourselves on not living in Midland. Bad idea? Good idea? Is there really that much of a difference in problems between the two towns?
