I'll admit that I've been as frustrated as anyone with things in the program over the last few weeks as anyone. I'll go on record and say I thought a change was going to be made and was perfectly fine with it. After the dust has settled and I've been able to process some things, there are some positives that we should hang our hat on:
1. I spoke with Behren's dad last night and I'm even a bigger fan now that he has stuck with us. He was pursued heavily by Texas and Miami the last few days and chose to stay with Tech. He has also been instrumental in keeping the class together throughout all of this. It's great to see a bunch of players stay loyal to the University through some hard times.
2. It's really clear that things are looking up defensively as we continue to hear good news on really good players coming back. It's sad to say, but the defense was the best it's been in a decade and Patterson seems to be making real progress.
3. I believe the new OC will be someone everyone can get behind based on what I'm hearing.
Again, I've been as negative as anyone at times, but I believe all of these players who are excited to come to this University/program deserve our support as we head in to what should be a more normal year. If we have a repeat of the last couple of years, the criticism goes with the territory and a change will probably happen. In the meantime, I'm going to be optimistic and get behind our current players.
