Mistakes, coaching and the refs

Well, here we are again, another close loss that could have been a win. I think there were three major reasons that caused this loss.

1. Mistakes by players...Most glaringly, the two interceptions that Duffy threw. The second one was the most brutal. Dropped passes contributed and the K-State kickoff return was inexcusable.

2. Coaching...Suspect play calling which others have discussed tonight. I thought the decision to not try an onside kick at the end was a terrible decision, given that we were kicking from midfield. Giving the ball to them on their 25 only netted us around 15 yards assuming we wouldn't have recovered the kick that would have traveled at least ten yards. Did we really think our defense was going to force K-State to a three and out?

3. The refs screwed us again...Our receiver caught the ball in bounds and the ball appeared to break the plane of the goal line. Touchdown. Instead we settle for a field goal and we lose by three. I really don't understand why it seems like Tech always gets hosed. Perhaps Kirby needs to have a very serious chat with the Big 12 about this. It has to stop.

So there was more than one factor that resulted in this loss but when you mix it all up, what is left is that it seems like we just keep finding ways to lose.

One thing is for sure, I'm not sure anyone is unluckier than Tech right now. Thankfully, this nightmare of a season is almost over. Nowhere to go but up.
