- These games are always fun for me. Zona losing a midweek game doesn't mean the end of their season by any means, and they probably leave the field thinking they played the worst outing of the season thus far. "We didn't throw any of our weekend guys, we're fine." But hell, Tech threw a Freshman righty, Erikson Lanning, Jacob Patterson, and another Freshman. We didn't really bring all our horses out of the pen either.
- Arizona couldn't find the strike zone with two hands and a map. 6 HBP, 8 walks, and I don't wanna know the wild pitch and passed ball count. All their relievers looked to have really good stuff, you just can't pitch like that when you're already losing 5-1 etc.
- Really impressed with the AB Grant Little had. Literally gets up off the bench, takes 2-3 practice swings, and knocks a big base hit to CF. Welcome to the game kid.
- Arizona came into last nights game hitting almost .400 as a team. And JHG and company, although letting too many guys on base IMO, made great pitches when they needed them to get out of jams. Also, I think the Wildcats will punish RH Pitching in the Pac-12. They sent 7/9 lefties up there last night. All sporting some nice batting averages.
- Play of the game goes to Michael Davis on that massive double play. You had stretched the lead in the bottom of the previous inning, and the wildcats were desperately looking for any sort of momentum they could get a hold of. First two guys get base hits. Then you double the guy off of second. Huge point in the game.
- A strength of great OF's will test Tadlock's ability to manage ego's and AB's. Gardner, Long, Beck, Little, and Warren have all shown they can play. It will be interesting to see how these AB's shake out and everyone knows they have a fair shot.
This team is for real. And folks across the nation are taking notice.
