After I graduated from Tech and went to Houston I returned to Lubbock on holidays.

One evening I was in Lubbock visiting parents and it was dark. My Dad was WW2 pilot and I am a private pilot.

I heard what sounded like a 4 engine turbo prop over our house at 45 and Indiana. This went on for a long long time.

No wing lights. We went out to Lubbock airport and visited the tower. They said they did not know anything.

So here is what we learned much later. That was a military experiment to see how a mid size city would react to this.

Later we learned that was the experiment for the desert rescue try buy Jimmy Carter that was a big disaster.

He was a politician at his core, canceled a LNG project we were in and forced the Mexican nat gas to go to Southern Co. his home state. He lead to Reagan. He was a nuclear engineer as I recall.

The judges he appointed were very liberal and weak. He did do a lot of nice things after he left office
