What questions were answered this weekend?
Biggest plus was definitely WV performance over Tenn. Confirms they are a contender for the Big 12 title. If they get by NC State then they'll come to the Jones undefeated and a top 10, maybe even top 5, team.
Biggest fall. Despite Tech's failure, it still has to be UT's collapse to a Maryland team in chaos. With Tulsa, USC, TCU, KSU (away), and OU coming up, this team could easily be 2-4 or possibly even 1-5. Its hard to imagine a coach as hot as Herman 2 years ago being on the hot seat. But then again, this is Texas and you can't go sit home during bowl season your first 2 years.
What does KSU's rally from 12 down in the 4th vs S Dakota tell you? That Snyder still wins the close ones or the end is near? I'm inclined to believe the lack of talent is too big for even Snyder to overcome this year.
OU made quick work of Florida Atlantic as did the Frogs and Bears over inferior opponents. ISU goes to Iowa without a tuneup due to their postponement. A win over their instate rival would be huge for the program and keep their momentum going.
TCU will roll SMU before facing Ohio State and UT in succession.
KU is still KU.
Finally, OSU. Two patsies before Boise State. The biggest question mark. Can Gundy extend his run of solid teams or do they have to regroup for a year? Personally, I think we end our dismal streak with them.
It seems the first week has separated OU, TCU, and WV from the pack with OSU and ISU the unknowns.
