The following was posted on RRS on 1/14/2010. I could not find an electronic copy so I have re-typed it. It shows Lincoln's class and his love for Texas Tech. Remember, this 26 year old had just called all the plays in our bowl win over Michigan State after going through the ordeal of the Leach firing.
"I know the last few weeks have been abnormally tough for all Red Raiders. The things that have occurred during this time have been unprecedented and shocking, to say the least. I can promise you that no one has taken this harder than the coaching staff and our current players. These events have been very trying for all of our families and friends. Over the last several years we have accomplished many great things at Tech and put out a team that all Red Raiders, both past and current, are proud of. We have all dedicated a large portion of our lives to making this football team as successful as possible. This time has been particularly special to me because Texas Tech and West Texas are home.
I want to thank Kent Hance, Gerald Myers, Guy Bailey, and the rest of the Texas Tech administration for all they have done for me. I am also grateful to coach Leach for giving me the opportunity to coach here.
Texas Tech is a special place. I have always believed that and I always will. I know many people are upset about many things that have happened, but that is the hand that we have all been dealt. During this time it is important for all Texas Tech fans to pull together behind the new staff and, most importantly, the players. You have a special group of young men that represent you, and I encourage every Red Raider to never take that for granted. I have been lucky enough to get to know all of these guys very well, and they need your support now more than ever. Show the world what makes this place so special.
Best of luck and a big thank you to all the fans."
