I posted this in the game thread, but that is always so fast moving and emotional I thought I'd post here. Let's all take a breath, kick a chair, and do whatever we need to vent that frustrating loss.
As in all loses, a lot of emotions going on. But here's the thing...we've lost to 1 team this year that hasn't spent time in the Top 10, and that loss was to the team with possibly the first pick in the draft. Only Houston, Baylor, and this one have been by more than 1 possession, and at least Baylor and this one were close late (not to mention the margin in this one got blown wide open by Beard going nuclear and getting back to back Ts).
People thinking this isn't a good team is crazy. Yeah, I wish we pulled more of these out, but it has been down to one bucket clanking out against really good teams that we've come up short on.
We likely aren't a national title contender this year. Could we if we get hot for 8 games? Absolutely. Is this squad as good as the Elite 8 team? You could argue not, but it would be a heck of a lot of fun to watch them play (Mac vs Keenan anyone?). But it is a good team that has held its own every game they've been in other than early in the year vs Houston when they were basically still figuring out playing together. We'll grind it out and be in it to the end in just about every game we play. You can either enjoy that for what it is, still one of the best teams in our school's history, or you can lose your mind the next time a Top 15 team beats us by hitting ridiculous 3s and getting some help at the stripe.
We should make the tourney. Probably win at least 1 and have a really good shot at the second weekend. And that's going to be a lot of fun.
