So my old KA pledge brother @raiderroady called me last night at 11:00 p.m. to talk about last night's HISTORIC win and we both agreed to not get ahead of ourselves....still, if we come through at the free throw line, shoot a reasonable % from 3 point land and continue to stay healthy (with obviously Zach's ankle healing) we have as a good of a shot at ending KU's 13 year regular season streak as anybody. (Yes, I know, one game at a time and all that).
We just beat TWO nationally ranked teams by double digits, including one that NEVER loses at home, much less by double digits.
Of all of the things that impressed me last night, perhaps at the top of the list we had guys NOT named Keenan Evans who were handling the ball in the Final 4 minutes, including our freshman, none of whom LOST THEIR POISE....trust me, a LOT of coaches would have been going berserk on the bench insisting that ONLY Keenan Evans handle the ball in those critical possessions not TRUSTING their young guys to handle the moment and that panic would have spilled over to the team.....not Beard.....it's not just that we are winning but HOW we are winning that is amazing to watch.
I don't think it was an accident that KUs 3 point percentage went into the toilet in the 2nd half either.
The Big XII regular season champion is going to be a Number one seed. Yeah, I know, we've only played 2 league games.
