So I was out of town and unable to watch the live cast of the game. I monitored the score, and was quite pissed off as I read the game cast scroll across my phone. Big play, crap defense. Big play, awesome offense. Big play, crap defense. Infuriating. I was/am/was at the point of being so entirely fed up with the defensive excuses (we've heard them all, no need to rehash).

Then this week, I watched the game replay, and was pleasantly surprised. While I am not a formal optimist about this teams chances, I have much more optimism than I did on Saturday a week ago.

Here's what I took away:

1) Felton is a mini-beast. Stockton did better than I expected based on his stats. The run game will make this offense so much harder to defend and will help Pat that much more. Excited!
2) I love the fire the freshmen DB's play with. They need to start/play A LOT MORE. Eager to see more!
3) Hinton.....needs to stay healthy. He makes a difference for Tech's defense. Eager to see more!
4) I saw Fehoko make a nice play. Progress!
5) Giles! Enough said!
6) Mental toughness.....well I didn't see a whole lot of this, but this game was much closer to being 73-24 than any of us care to believe. We need to play with confidence on D. DJPB is not the answer to this. The young bucks are the answer. I am convinced of it.

To bandwagon on the staff's thread at the top, I believe Tech holds KU to 24 or less. I think the defense shows up this week.....even against KU, we need the defense to stand up and have a great game. Confidence has to be built from some starting point.
