If you somehow missed my pinned thread, we have over 50 confirmed visitors for this weekends football game vs OSU including plenty of guys with offers and future 2021, 2022 and 2023 recruits who will receive offers down the line.

Derrick Lewis II is one of two official visitors for this weekend, and I exchanged a few messages with him. Here is what Lewis II has to say...

“I’m really looking forward to seeing the culture at Texas Tech first hand. It’s a great place, the players love it and I can’t wait to experience it.”

So nothing too groundbreaking but...it wouldn’t surprise me if Tech lands a verbal commitment from Lewis this weekend or sometime next week assuming the visit goes well.

Collier, who is committed to Minnesota, took his official visit to Tech for the UTEP game. You didn’t see anything on social media, we didn’t tag his comments to his Rivals profile, that’s all very on purpose as he doesn’t really want anything out there.

The Tech coaches still really want Collier though and Collier has obviously shown that interest back. Can they keep the talented tackle in-state vs going to chilly Minnesota? We’ll see but he’s a top, top priority.

Collier is also very important because...

I am not saying he’s decommitting. I am not saying he’s decommitting.

But saying that I don’t have a great vibe here. And maybe I’m wrong, after all he still has his Tech commitment tweet pinned and his header is an edit of him in a Tech uniform.

But he removed “OT at Texas Tech University ‘24” from his bio. He recently spoke with our @samspiegelman and said he’s going to visit Oklahoma State and Houston. And he was supposed to visit Tech for this weekend’s game, he’s no longer doing so. Maybe that’s 11 am kickoff related, probably is, but maybe not.

I haven’t spoken to Moore so I could be way off on this one. Just a feeling with some notes I thought I would share.

Heyward is a junior running back who decided to transfer from Michigan State last week. He picked up Twitter follows from several Tech coaches after his announcement. I reached out and he did confirm he’s heard from the coaches at Tech and that Tech would be a school he would consider if given the opportunity.

I think taking a veteran transfer back to go along with 3-star Tahj Brooks makes plenty of sense, would allow you to ease Brooks in while Thompson/Henry and Heyward (assuming it’s him) take the load in 2020. He would also only be a junior and have 2 years of eligibility.
