UPDATE: Venmo, email and spreadsheet info has all been posted in the update below. Most are bolded for easy reference. You have 1/10/20 at midnight to enter.
Fatties Assemble!!!
Alright fellow fatties, the holidays have come to a close and as of last night I was just a few lbs shy of my all time high. With a baby coming the first of April I'm looking to try to get in prime shape over the next 3 months to help balance out the likely crash after her arrival (you know the one, an extreme lack of sleep leading to incredibly poor discipline in the exercise and diet part of my life)
I'm doing it with or without you, but I figured it was the time of year people typically like to try this stuff and we've had some success raising small amounts of money while motivating people to lose weight in the past, so might as well throw it out there and see if anyone is interested.
I can't recall everyone who has helped organize and track this before, or who all has participated, but I think @TTUMAR @Doc 20 and @culallen have been heavily involved.
********UPDATED WITH RULES BELOW******
These are not set in stone yet, so if you have a suggestion please post it and I'll take it into account before I unilaterally decide to ignore it.
If anyone is willing to handle the money, accept photos or work on the google doc, let me know. I'll do as much as I can, but with a baby due at the end of the competition I may require some help to finish things up.
- The 2020 contest will run from Friday January 10th till Friday April 3rd. That's 12 weeks to fight the flab.
- Entry Fee will be $50, half of which will go towards the whatever Scholarship Fund RRS is currently backing. Anyone know off hand or have a link?
- 1st Place receives 75% of the pot.
- 2nd Place receives 25% of the pot
- 3rd Place is refunded his/her entry fee of $50
- To keep those with less to lose engaged, anyone who loses 10lbs or more and participates in at least 8 of the 12 weekly check-ins (first and last are mandatory) will be entered to win a $50 entry fee refund as well.
The FAT-TRACKER 2000 (Google Sheet) courtesy of @TTUMAR should be up and running now. It will be open every Friday for the majority of the day so you can enter your updated weight. I'm not a robot so it will be open from roughly 8am to 10pm every Friday, but it may be slightly longer or shorter.
How to Enter:
- open the FAT-TRACKER 2000, you will enter your RRS Handle, starting weight, and measurables, on or before Friday January 10th. I've entered my info, but it's not official since I don't have a photo, so it may change.
- Submit your payment of $50 by midnight, Friday January 10th. Venmo @marctaylorttu. If you don't have Venmo let me know and we'll see what we can figure out. Please reference your username in the transaction so I know who is who.
- Submit a photo of you standing on a scale. For the photo to be valid, the weight must be clearly visible, and you must rest a small piece of paper at your feet with your RRS handle. Email for initial and final weights is : dickensiderwlc@gmail.com
-That photo can be taken at any point between right now and when the contest officially starts, so if you want to get started right away, take your photo today.
-Nudes are optional, please forward these to @carnley09
Game-play:
- Each Friday, contestants are encouraged to update their weight so all can follow along. I won't commit to starting a weekly reminder thread. We're all adults (in some respect or another) so put a reminder in your phone if you must. Please participate in good faith. Simply typing a guess into the box is lazy. Just get up and go weigh yourself.
-I encourage everyone to participate in a discussion of your progress, your methods, setbacks, etc. Winning money is fun, but the real goal here is for everyone to have some motivation and accountability while having a good time. Participating in the discussion helps.
-Winners will be based on % of body weight lost, not total weight.
- When the contest is over winners will be announced and the participation trophy winner will be drawn out of a hat. I'll try to have video of that.
-If I missed anything or something is unclear let me know.
