I know several of y'all travel over to Maui and stay in the area, so if you have, be glad, because it is currently burning to the ground. An unfortunately combination of strong winds from a nearby hurricane and brushfires have sparked some devastating fires on Maui and the Big Island - though Lahaina on Maui's Western Coast is by far the worst. I have heard the Banyan Tree has burned, though I'm having trouble finding information/confirmation on it.

If you've never been to Lahaina, or Hawaii for that matter, the buildings are typically just basic wooden structures built right next to each other, if not on top of one another. If one of them catches fire, it'd be almost impossible to stop it and as mention above the conditions are helping the situation either. Maui also doesn't have the necessary resources to fight something like this and obviously you aren't pulling them from a nearby state. Some of the pictures are just horrible. I think every historic site in Lahaina was destroyed.
