On the off-chance than anyone should question the Teflon AD's decision-making when it comes to the by far the biggest sport on campus, and wonder when the heat may finally come on him for staying with a coach with three losing seasons in four years, and limping out of this one at 2-6, remember to deflect the conversation to these (in no particular order):
1. Tadlock.
2. Beard (even though if AD had his way, Tubby would have been signed to a long-term extension as well)
3. CFP chairman.
4. New lockerooms.
5. New practice facility.
6. Other schools were interested.
7. Football is just one sport and there are something like 16 of them on campus.
8. He loves Lubbock.
Any of those should effectively diffuse any criticism of his handling of the football program because you know, it's just not fair to hold him accountable when he has all these other things going for him.
