Kliff's play calling was horrible. We seemingly did nothing to offset the constant pressure on Bowman, which he (Bowman) could and did not handle. We ran the same plays all day long, and Iowa St. was not fooled.
The personal fouls on us were very questionable but you can't let the officials have a chance to screw you.
Bowman was horrible, most certainly the worst game for him at Tech. I felt that midway through the fourth quarter while the game was still tied, we should have put Duffy in. Maybe he could have given our offense some life. Bowman sucked all of it out of us.
I can't really blame the defense for this one. Between Kliff's play calling, Bowman's awful mistakes and a thrown flag every time we hit somebody, I thought the defense was ok.
And lets not forget that the special teams allowed a 50 yard kickoff return to start the second half. I thought that set the tone for the rest of the game, which wasn't good.
So it was the same old thing. Dumb penalties, lousy play calling and one special teams breakdown.
But to me, the main thing in this game was leaving Bowman in this game when it was obvious that he was in over his head. The second half for Bowman was as bad a half as a QB could have. Kliff apparently was taking a nap when all of this was happening.
So much for the "progress" this program has made under Kliff. Some things just never change. One game does not make a season, but this one stunk to high heaven. Take a bow, Kliff.
