@UpperDeckRaider mentioned this in another thread, anyway...Coach Kittley was on the radio yesterday talking nationals, but also was asked about NIL/Rev Share etc. Sounds very sobering for our 'other' sports. His quote, among other comments, was something to the affect that it will be the most 'uneven' for T&F and baseball in the history of the sports. Not in a good way. Kittley's part in the link starts at 2:00 hour mark, comments regarding this issue at 2:07.
Many schools (SEC and others) will fund full scholarship rosters in those sports and/or in all sports. It costs those schools $2.5M in revenue share 'hit' to fund those other scholarships. $2.5M over 85 football and 12 mens basketball players = $25K per year per player (if evened out). Some numbers (our scholarships by sport vs SEC/others by sport).....
Baseball......11.7 vs 34 (edit: up to 34, Tex says they are doing 25)
T&F men......12 vs 35. (Kittley said 35 I think, but what I've seen it may be 45)
T&F women.....18 vs 45
Soccer......14 vs 28
Softball....12 vs 25
Vball........12 vs 18
Tennis men.....4.5. vs 10
Tennis women.....8 vs. 10
I could be off a bit on these numbers. If anyone has other info, please correct me. We knew this whole settlement thing was gonna create issues, but the way we are distributing rev share/schollies is gonna hamstring these programs' recruiting efforts (on a national scale any way), for some maybe significantly. Now total budget revenue and huge increase in expenses (settlement etc) has everything to do with this I guess. Maybe we have some kind of plan to even things out a bit with NIL programs or such. Hope so.
Any way, something to keep in mind while following future recruiting/roster building.
