The reason you feel good about Hocutt making these decisions is if nothing else he is wholly plugged into college football. This is why you like him being the head of the Playoff committee. It’s all about networking and knowing what other AD’s are talking about and who the next generation of innovative coaches are.
Hiring Kliff was completely justified when the decision was made. The fan base needed to be brought together and he had a ton of upside. Probably still does. I don’t think he would have reached on a coach with the lack of experience if it werent for the Tech connection and where our fan base was.
Hocutt is a huge asset for our school and you’d be a fool to not recognize that. Hopefully our donors and power guys let him make a decision that works; NOT for what’s most comfortable.
