There are no excuses for the Tech DL group this week. Mike Smith should have this group chomping at the bit to expose the KU OL that is extremely thin in their depth and experience. Scouting the ISU game, the OL was a constant revolving door with no true starting five. The situation was compounded when two Soph. O-Linemen left the program in early August. With only one Senior at LG and a converted TE at LT, Fehoko & Levi should really get a good push up the middle allowing Pete & Moore to get after their freshman QB. The bright spot for the future is at RT - Hughes is a true FR 3-Star (Rivals) recruit out of Harker Heights, He blew out his knee at the Texas camp or probably would have had more offers.
The inexperienced group has allowed 13 sacks through 5 games this year which is a little misleading as their QBs have constantly been under pressure and they focus on quick passing routes to try to negate the pressure. The Tech defense needs to step up against lesser talent here to get them out of the cellar in NCAA defensive stats.
LT Shelley-Smith 6-5 296 JR
LG Peter 6-3 300 SR
C Gibson 6-3 290 SO
RG Banks 6-3 302 JR-JC
RT Hughes 6-7 281 FR
