For those of us that are irritated about our excitement level over beating a 6-6 Texas team to keep Kingsbury, gain bowl eligibility, and win back-to-back for the first time EVER in Austin, here's some interesting points to (re)consider:

While the UT offense is TERRIBLE, the defense is INCREDIBLE, by Big 12 and national standards. Look at these scores-

Their worst game by far was Game #1 vs Maryland with 51, and then...
0 - San Jose State W
27 - #11 USC in OT L
7 - Iowa State W
34 - Kansas State in OT W
29 - #2 Oklahoma L
13 - #18 Oklahoma State L
7 - Baylor W
24 - #10 TCU L
27 - Kansas W
14 - West Virginia W
27 - Texas Tech L

Against the modern spread and all of its variations and against offenses as highly ranked as USC and the Big 12/national leaders... that is phenomenal defense.

With bandaged up QB play and three forced defensive turnovers, four counting special teams, we went into their house and put up 27 points in regulation. Better than #11 USC. Better than #10 TCU. Better than #18 Oklahoma State. Better than bowl bound conference Tech losses Iowa State and West Virginia. That is worth being excited about even if they are just 6-6 Texas.
