Just a few quick thoughts from tonight's game...

*First, it was a slopfest throughout, with turnovers and negative plays scattered throughout. Central couldn't really get anything going, and Keller just repeatedly shot themselves in the foot all night.

*Obviously, the real reason I came to the game was to check out Houston Miller in person, as I've never seen him play. For the first three quarters, Keller essentially used him to cover the flats exclusively. Don't think he rushed the passer once before then. They just put him out there to stop the short passes and horizontal run game, which he did a great job of. He's a great athlete at his size, and he moved around very well.

*But then, the magic happened on the last two drives of the game for Central. They knew they had to pass, so Keller switched Miller down to the defensive line as a five tech end. That's when he started wowing.

*He explodes off the ball, and he was almost in the backfield as soon as the center snapped it on nearly every play. The tackles and guards were just no match for him at all. He had a sack early on in the last drive, but the one that was the eye-popper was a hammering of Central's QB right as he let the ball go. It took him a while to get up, and Miller was on top of him not two seconds after the snap.

*Miller's measureables and talent were certainly confirmed to me tonight: Plus athlete, very smooth, explodes off the ball, and he's mean to offensive tackles, He's a prototype rush-end player for the Red Raiders.

*I was also impressed with Keller RB Tyler Tutt, who is committed to Texas State but is hearing quite a bit from Vanderbilt. He's a tough runner, like the way he gets physical.
