Kinda feels like it.
I am a big Star Wars fan...
I went into the Last Jedi, feeling optimistic.
And, Initially the movie receives some critical acclaim, by outlying reviews, prior to release.
Word on the street leading up to the release, is that the director kind of had unchecked control of the movie and script, and that this was a DRAMATIC new direction for the franchise.
And Upon first viewing, it kind of looks and feels like a Star Wars movie.
But as the movie goes along it feels like it starts missing things...
It starts feeling like it is missing the context of the SW Universe.
Things that the franchise had been feeling like that they were building up to, or trying to tie together, start getting just lopped out, or poorly written out of the story.
And then the by then end of the movie...
It becomes clear that the actual goal of the movie was to Blow Up All of the HIstory of the Star Wars movies, to completely REBOOT the franchise.
The walk away feeling is kind of like you just watched a BAD EPISODE of the Star Trek: TNG... or hell even Deep Space Nine.
This is going to take some getting used to.
I still don't like the Last Jedi. That movie really sucked.
The Force Awakens, for being a direct re-write and re-boot of the Original SW: A New Hope...
It still had the spirit, look and feel of a Star Wars movie...
