SEC update.
Total number of wins against CURRENT AP “Top 25” ranked teams:
#3 Texas (0)
#7 Alabama (1, Georgia)
#8 Georgia (2, Texas, Tennessee)
#9 Ole Miss (2, Georgia, S. Carolina)
#10 Tennessee (1, Alabama)
#15 Texas A&M (0)
#19 S. Carolina (1, Texas A&M)
Total number of losses and losses against currently unranked teams:
#3 Texas (1 and 0)
#7 Alabama (2 and 1, Vanderbilt)
#8 Georgia (2 and 0)
#9 Ole Miss (2 and 2, Kentucky and LSU)
#10 Tennessee (2 and 1, Arkansas)
#15 Texas A&M (2 and 0)
#19 S. Carolina (3 and 1, LSU)
“Best win” among these seven currently ranked SEC teams:
1. Georgia, in Austin vs. now 9-1 Texas, 30-15. UT is still ranked #3, overall.
2. Alabama, at home vs. now 8-2 Georgia, 41-34. UGa is still ranked 8th, overall.
3. Ole Miss, at home vs. now 8-2 Georgia, 28-10. UGa is still ranked 8th, overall.
4. Georgia, at home vs. now 8-2 Tennessee, 34-17. That other “UT” is still ranked 10th, overall.
5. Tennessee, at home vs. now 8-2 Alabama, 24-17. Alabama is still ranked #7, overall.
“Worst loss” among these seven currently ranked SEC teams:
1. Ole Miss, at home vs. now 4-6 Kentucky, 17-to-20. UK is now 15th in the SEC.
2. Tennessee, at now 5-5 Arkansas, 14-to-19. UA is now 11th in the SEC.
3. Alabama, at now 6-4 Vanderbilt, 35-40. VU is now 10th in the SEC.
4. Texas A&M, at now 7-3 S. Carolina, 20-44. USC is now 7th in the SEC.

  • Thought for the day: the “division-less,” 16-team SEC is now kind of like a loose association of teams stranded in the “Articles of Confederation” era of American history. Its scheduling makes no sense: OU almost elicits sympathy for having to play 5 of those 7 currently ranked SEC foes this year (both “UTs,” S. Carolina, Ole Miss, and Alabama … plus recently-ranked Missouri and LSU!).
  • A&M avoids Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss and Tennessee (but, sure, did play — and beat — no longer ranked Missouri and LSU). And Texas looms.
  • Texas played Georgia! … and lost, in Austin. Texas’ next best SEC opponent this season? Vanderbilt? Bring on the Aggies!
  • Florida played A&M, Texas, Tennessee, Georgia, Ole Miss and LSU. And Miami, out-of-conference. Miss. State will have played Texas, Georgia, A&M, Tennessee, Ole Miss and Missouri. Arkansas played both “UTs,” A&M, Ole Miss, as well as LSU and Missouri.
  • It’s a mess.
