I can't say enough how great a visit we had. The great weather, walking tour, Rawls college visit all awesome. The highlight was our one on one with Dr Wong at Honors College. Kate, her Mom and I were greeted by terrific young man from Round Rock who yacked us up while we waited. Could not have been more enthusiastic, personable, excited to be at Tech. We then had great session with Dr. Wong. When I told her my favorite class was history of exploration with Brink and Harper, she excused herself and went and got Dr. Brink! Had a great visit with him about the class. Even talked a bit about the topic of my final some 31 years ago. Lol. There is more. Dr. SanFrancisco the Dean spent some time with us and whisked the girls off to a student luncheon at Horn/Knapp where the girls could watch upper class students give presentation on their thesis. Where else does this happen! Like we were old friends ...
And to cap it off, one of my best friends ever found us four tickets to the baseball game Friday. Good to be connected. Thank God it was the Friday game ....lol
Oh yeah. Cheeseburger and fried cheese at Spankys...
As a graduate of class of 85, just blown away by how far Tech has come. The commitment to student experience, improvement in facilities, passion of all involved in the recruiting effort. And that campus is an oasis of thought in that serene dusty landscape. Like a different world.
Best of all she felt at home there.
Not out of woods yet. But will be major shock if she ends up elsewhere ..two visits to go.
And I guarantee you we should be able to recruit. Get families and kids there. That place sells itself now.
Long live the Matadors!
