I have a close friend who is a high school head basketball coach, who was recently invited to watch a Tech basketball practice. My friend is not easily impressed, but he wouldn't stop talking about how impressed he was with the practice, program, team, facilities, McCasland. He was blown away.
He was most impressed by how efficient Grant ran the practice. There is NO down time. He counted 31 total staff members involved in the practice and EVERYONE knows what they are doing and doing it. The Womble has a large TV screen and everything is being record. If a player messes up, in real time they will replay the the highlight back to the player as a teaching moment.
The players are graded out the entire practice and have to score high enough at the end of the practice. When they break out at the end of practice, players in red have to stay on the court and keep practicing while the players in green go upstairs to look at film.
When Grant gets back to his office after practice, all practice video has been cut and ready to view at his disposal. This program is running at a high level with everyone knowing what they are doing and every little thing planned out and organized.
