I'm not absolving the coaching staff. They probably aren't the ones to turn this around just like Tuberville wasn't, just like Kliff wasn't, and probably like the next guy after Wells won't be. They make good money, so they have have big targets. I get that.
But those saying this is all on coaching, WTF are you watching?
1. It's a terrible mismatch in the trenches. Columbi can't even get in a 3-step drop and he's under siege time after time. He's got virtually no chance.
2. Meanwhile, Rattler has all day to throw. He can survey the field until he finds the athletic mismatch he wants. He has two TD passes dropped.
3. On goal line, defensive front gets blown off the ball. They get pushed back a yard. They are physically overwhelmed.
4. Simple out route, Fields make a lazy play and a lazy angle and turns that into a 50-yard gain.
5. OU RBs routinely break tackles. Bigger and stronger.
6. Columbi plays his butt off and he's a competitor, but there's a reason a kid from Florida was at Utah State.
Now, it shouldn't be 48-14 at halftime, but when you go a combined 85 yards for three touchdowns via turnovers, and really a 135 yards for fourth after a failed fourth down against a superior team, this is what happens.
This isn't 48-14 at halftime because of a draw of 3rd and 12. It's 48-14 at halftime because of about 6-7 years of poor recruiting vs. top 10 classes stacked on top of each other.
