I think Wells and Kirby have done a fantastic job building an image to make it more of an all inclusive program just like Beard and Co have done. This has been quite impressive especially after a more than lackluster response to the hire from many.
The next step, like @GCRRFan said in his Tech football... thread, is seeing if his actual coaching abilities are there. Not here to argue the future or the hire.
Just curious what is everyone looking for from Wells to get a feeling of his abilities in year #1? Just wins and losses? Offensive production? Defensive efficiency? Eye test? Recruiting class ranking? Recruiting class based on filling needs?
For me it’s discipline on the field(penalties), decreasing mental mistakes(not running routes fully, missing blocking assignments etc) and quitting at the end of games. All killed Kliff and are ways you can immediately change the team no matter the depth chart. This is not to say I expect perfection, but only obvious improvement in these areas. I don’t think wins and losses are a way to measure a new hire personally.
