My wife and I live in Midland, but she is from the Houston area. Her birthday is in a month, and I'm planning a surprise trip for us to go down there for dinner/drinks/see her family.
Since it's a surprise, and I'm not familiar with Houston like I am Austin or Dallas, I need some help picking a nice hotel in an area that would be near some good restaurants with a bar scene (we're more fans of chill bars where you can actually hear each other speak).
Any recommendations on area, hotel, restaurant, bars?
