My daughter recently read a book and recommended it to me. She attended an online seminar/lecture by the author yesterday and found his premise informative and fascinating. She has worked in transportation of petroleum and hazardous chemicals for 20 years and is a very informed young woman. Thought some of you on the board might find this book interesting.

Here's her thumbnail of the lecture: Today, I heard a fascinating presentation during an online conference by Alex Epstein, author of the book below. Let me be clear: I am not stating a position or starting a debate. Personally, I like to learn as much as possible about all facets of a hot topic, and I learned a lot from this presenter.

He has a forward look weighing the benefits and side effects of continuing fossil fuel use on "human flourishing." That reliable, low cost energy is fundamental to human flourishing, including a safe and healthy environment. He questions some concepts such as "Delicate Nurturer" assumption (humans seen as parasites destroying the earth). He promotes some concepts such as the "Wild Potential" assumption (humans can be producer-improvers). And much, much more.
