Try to honestly analyze. I am, Here is what I noticed fairly quickly. His first yr he inherited a few studs on O like Jace Amaro, Bradley Marquez, Eric Ward, Jakeem Grant, DeAndre Washington no real QBs as he had to go with walk on Baker Mayfield and Davis Webb he signed as freshman, Reginald Davis, hit and miss guy, Sadale Foster, Shawn Corker never lived up to hype on either side, Carlos Thompson, Dylan Cantrell, Clayton Nicholas gone, Michael Brewer gone, Derrick Edwards gone, Caleb Woodward, Brad Pearson, Dominque Wheeler, Kenny Williams we all know we were so desperate for LB help he tried that as tteam player, Quinton White, Rodney Hall, Tony and Alfredo Morales, Josh Outlaw, LaRaven Clark, James Polk, Baylen Brown, Matt Wilson, Cody Hayes, Rashad Fortenberry, Beau Carpenter, Jared Kaster multi yr starter but makes not smart plays mentally and isn't great, Bennett Okafor, Trey Kennan too small and left, Poet Thomas, Zach Austin, Jordan Davis, Aaron Fisher,
No depth behind to continue when best guys graduated. The best are on campus are soph or younger. There is a big gap in the middle we are playing with now that is killing us. No OL depth to handle injuries. So does KK forfeit a redshirt for the programs overall best to play young guys while two good young guys are injured and probably can't help you win anyway. Is it worth what you give up in building a program? I don't think so in the BIG PICTURE! Which so few on here can see!
You don't win in this league playing with Sophs and younger players all across the OL. Maybe with one or two exceptional players, not with a whole OL of them. What KK is dealt with is what he inherited plus first yrs recruits which is unfair to any coach but blue blood program. Last two classes are helping and will really help in the future. If we keep this class in total. After that first yr he has lost a lot of talent to the NFL and college level winning talent that couldn't be replaced by what he had on campus to replace it with. If you think differently then please show me the players. Plus how you as a coach would have done so much better in this real tough league!
Actually on D that really mattered he had some players for making that bowl that yr. Had no DEPTH backing them up to come up. He had Kerry Hyder, Will Smith, Tre Porter, Terrance Bullitt, Bruce Jones, JJ Gaines, Jackson Richards, Dartwan Bush, DJ Polite Bray (still not done much), Derrick Mays, Gary Moore still developing, Kris Williams, Branden Jackson been discussed a lot, Pete Robertson the same discussion, JaCarthy Mack, Zach Barnes, Sam Equavoen, LaDarius Newbold never lived up to hype, Keenon Ward, Dee Paul gone, Micah Awe, Jalen Barnes, Dorian Crawford, Jeremy Reynolds, Tyler Middleton never did much, Blake Dees, Ryan Erxleben, John White, Zach Winbush, Martin Hill, Olaoluma Falemi, Austin Stewart, Justis Nelson, Thierry Nguema, Bobby Esaba, Summitt Hogue, Kahlee Woods, Malik Jenkins, Taylor Symnank, Chris Knighton, Demetrius Alston, Kindred Evans, Donte Phillips, Dennell Wesley, Anthony Smith.
Again behind those guys that were good enough to make a bowl that first yr. He was left with players that didn't develop as Tubs promised. It was his evaluation not KKs. What was behind those players that you feel any other coach would have won so big time with. Give me names and positions. Again, after KK first yrs recruiting which I don't count against any coach unless in blue blood program. It is so hard that first yr. He then had a friend betray him big time. How many on here have had a friend or family member betray you that you NEVER saw coming. Esp in coaching where loyalty is so treasured. It is a death knoll to not have it. Wally was saved by a good friend but at a very much lower level of football. He still will have to deal with this trying to move up. Why would people trust him. If you have never been betrayed good and lucky for you. Most people in this world have and never saw it coming. Yet you blame KK but it has happened to you or people you know well. Did you blast them like you blast KK for it too?
These last two classes are where the majority of the talent is. Yet we know it takes time to develop it except for the few exceptions like a Fehoko. Yet he will be much better each yr at Tech himself.
As discussed this team will be better off by addition by subtraction after this yr. If you disagree and see within this roster so much talent available to replace those good players KK had his first yr then name them and by position and show me how you would have done so much better yourself and how you would have already built up the non existing depth he was dealt.
Yes, he tried some JUCO"s out of desperation. He has to answer to you guys. Ironically so many other Universities wanted those same guys too. They were highly recruited. That seems to matter to so many on here. They were. It was hopefully a stop gap fix. It didn't work. But hindsight is Always 20/20. KK didn't have the advantage then we have now or you guys that would have done it perfectly then do. He is HUMAN.
It takes time to truly build a solid program from the ground up. That is what KK was and is forced into doing. He inherited some original talent that went to a bowl. Not much after that was in the pipeline. You guys just don't have the ability to honestly look at the total picture and evaluate things as they really are.
If I am so wrong then now you have the names and positions from KK original team. Take it and prove me wrong. Show me and everyone else how you would have done so much better with the hand he was dealt. I am anxiously awaiting this!
