Today, Aetna announced its merger/acquisition of Humana. And United Healthcare may absorb that merger in the future, according to rumors. Last month, Anthem (BC/BS) offered to buy Cigna, and that is just waiting for the pot to be sweetened a little more.
Obamacare is doing what it was intended to do. Consolidating healthcare to a few oligopolies that will be deemed "too big to fail". Sound familiar? Look for major hospital network mergers to speed up in the next 2-3 years, creating oligopolies as well. I would not be surprised to see insurers acquiring the hospital and healthcare networks.
