If you have a daughter considering the sport. Beg, bribe, or plead with her to choose anything else. Not only is it expensive and time consuming, the competitions are the worst beating you could imagine. The judges take their time like they’re scoring the Olympics. You’ll spend no less than 4 hours at a meet, watching your child for less than 5 minutes of actual competition.
I just spent two hours at a meet and watched my daughter on one competition. I had to leave, thank goodness, for my son’s game. Attending these meets is the single biggest show of love I could display to my daughter.
I won’t even get into the other elements of it like the subjectiveness or the fact that at certain levels they don’t even value the difficulty of a routine.
