Because you never know when their time will be up. Just lost my best friend unexpectedly last night, most likely due to cancer. Was 8 years old, and in better shape than most GSDs half his age, so I thought I'd have him longer than the average GSD life span of 10-12 years.

Will be doing the Lonesome Dove thing, and driving him back to Texas to be buried.
