It may seem insignificant with all that happened in the game, but I LOVE the fact that we received to start the second half. It's bigger than it seems when teams do that, and I hope Tech does it more because it rarely happens.

I'd say 75 percent of teams will defer if they win the toss. Leach never did, and Kliff is pretty much the same way. But I think it would really help the way this team is constructed.

An improving defense needs some emotional help, especially at home. First few plays out of the box, crowd is really into it, and more often than not for offenses that aren't Tech, other team is a bit conservative and feeling things out. Think you have a better chance to get a 3 and out or a stop on the first series than most other series.

Can't tell you how many games where the defense has struggled in the first half and I'm thinking, "And crap, they get the ball to star the 2nd half too."

Getting the ball to start the third quarter was huge in a 21-21 game. Tech scores, and the pressure goes right back to Arky to answer, which they couldn't. You get a real chance to establish a tone when you get the ball with just two quarters left.

Granted, Arkansas won the toss and chose to receive, but it played out well for Tech. I would love to see us start to defer when winning the toss in future game.
