Below are pressures recorded as a team per PFF the last few years.

You can see in 2022 the pressure mostly came from the edge with Tyree Wilson and the two inside guys. In 2023 the pressure came from the DT's with Hutchings and Bradford, with two veteran EDGE's pitching in. You're seeing this years team is mainly getting pressure with the ILB's and the total numbers are more evenly spread out.

2024
176 pressures in 811 snaps to date (21.7%)

ILB Ben Roberts - 17 pressures
ILB Jacob Rodriguez - 15 pressures
EDGE Amier Washington - 14 pressures
ILB Miquel Dingle - 14 pressures
DT De'Braylon Carroll - 14 pressures
DT Braylon Rigsby - 13 pressures
DT E'Maurion Banks - 11 pressures
EDGE Isaac Smith - 11 pressures
EDGE Harvey Dyson III - 10 pressures

2023
199 pressures in 958 snaps (20.7%)

EDGE Myles Cole - 27 pressures
DT Tony Bradford Jr - 26 pressures
DT Jaylon Hutchings - 20 pressures
EDGE Steve Linton - 19 pressures
ILB Ben Roberts - 12 pressures
EDGE Joseph Adedire - 12 pressures
ILB Jesiah Pierre - 12 pressures
DT Quincy Ledet Jr - 11 pressures

2022
238 pressures in 977 snaps (24.3%)

EDGE Tyree Wilson - 50 pressures
DT Tony Bradford Jr - 35 pressures
DT Jaylon Hutchings - 31 pressures
EDGE Jesiah Pierre - 22 pressures
ILB Krishon Merriweather - 19 pressures
STAR Marquis Waters - 14 pressures
ILB Kosi Eldridge - 12 pressures

Thoughts - the 2024 team having a pressure rate of over 20% is incredible because they cannot generate anything with a 4 man rush. You can see that in the numbers. The ILB's at the top mean that Tech is only pressuring the quarterback when they bring 5 or 6 guys. That has left Tech's secondary vulnerable - and is a big reason why Texas Tech's pass defense is ranked #132 in the country, only ahead of Tulsa.

Tech really needs to find a couple of Edge guys who can put up 20-30+ pressures again, which will help the entire unit. Hutchings and Bradford were special, too. And Tyree Wilson was a one man wrecking crew.

2024 pressures by game

Abilene Christian - 18 pressures
Washington State - 12 pressures
North Texas - 15 pressures
Arizona State - 24 pressures
Cincinnati - 16 pressures
Arizona - 18 pressures
Baylor - 5 pressures
TCU - 14 pressures
Iowa State - 27 pressures
Colorado - 21 pressures
Oklahoma State - 6 pressures
