TTU RECRUITING THIS WEEK

there is a ton going on in the college football world, we have the season ending and portal season beginning...the Red Raiders landed a handful of new commitments since we last talked, the coaches handed out a ton of new offers and are set to host eight (8) official visitors this weekend...

new commits

the coaches recently landed a commitment from Hutchinson C.C. (Kansas) defensive tackle Danny Saili. the 6-foot-2, 355-pound JUCO prospect will graduate early and have three (3) years to play two (2) years at the next level. with Tony Bradford and Jaylon Hutchings both graduating and leaving the program, it was important for the coaches to land an instant impact player at the defensive tackle position.

Saili is a former Oklahoma commitment and had a good season in nine (9) games played this season, including three (3) sacks.

Rated a 5.5 three-star prospect, Saili chose the Red Raiders over 16 other offers from programs across the country, including offers from Arizona, Houston, Maryland, Arizona State, Miami and several others.

the coaches recently landed a commitment from Smithville 2025 athlete Ramonz Adams. the 6-foot-1, 155-pound junior does it all for Smithville, playing quarterback, running back and wide receiver. he also plays defensive back, where the Red Raider coaches see his future at the D1 level. on the season, Adams had 1,839 all-purpose yards with 14 total touchdowns, six (6) interceptions and four (4) forced fumbles.

the coaches recently landed a commitment from Frenship 2025 wide receiver Leyton Stone. the 6-foot-2, 170-pound junior is the son of Texas Tech soccer coach Tom Stone. in a strong junior season, Stone finished with 94 receptions for 1,658 yards and 23 total touchdowns. the local product chose the Red Raiders over offers from Baylor, Arizona and Texas State.

*the Texas Tech 2025 class now lists six (6) total commitments, ranked as the No. 25 class in the nation

portal season is here

portal.gif

we are only a week into the transfer portal opening and things are happening.

the Red Raiders have seen the following players announce their intentions to enter the transfer portal and leave the program...

WR Myles Price
OL Matt Keeler
OL Landon Peterson

Price is a loss, however, the talented wideout battled injuries and had not played a full season over the past two seasons

Keeler started at right tackle twice this season, fell out of the rotation after Caleb Rogers moved back to right tackle

Peterson was a redshirt senior who never really saw a ton of playing time on the offensive line, being passed up by Rusty Staats and other incoming transfers

it is December 1st, so there will definitely be others who enter the portal and choose to leave the program...rumors are floating around that wide receiver Jerand Bradley could be next, but we will definitely keep you updated on the latest/greatest

best advice is...head on a swivel

new offers

speaking of the transfer portal, the Texas Tech coaches hit the recruiting trail hard this past week and offered several transfer + JUCO targets

the coaches recently offered Fairmont State defensive back Jovon Jackson. the 6-foot-2, 195-pound defender entered the portal two (2) weeks ago and now holds offers from your Red Raiders, UT Martin, Norfolk State, Towson, Arkansas State, Eastern Kentucky and Temple.

the coaches offered North Dakota offensive lineman Easton Kilty this week. the 6-foot-5, 305-pound lineman entered the portal on Monday and now holds offers from your Red Raiders, Auburn, Oklahoma State, Boston College, Mississippi State, N.C. state, Purdue, Virginia Tech, BYU and Iowa State.

the coaches offered UTEP offensive lineman Justin Mayers this week. the 6-foot-3, 309-pound lineman entered the portal on Monday and now holds offers from your Red Raiders, UTSA, Pitt, Virginia Tech, Colorado, USF, Vanderbilt, North Texas, Mississippi State, Houston, Tulsa, Boston College, South Carolina, Texas State, UConn and Temple.

the coaches offered Saddleback C.C. (Calif.) offensive tackle Maurice Rodriques this week. the 6-foot-7, 325-pound lineman is set to graduate this month and holds offers from your Red Raiders, Alabama State, Eastern Michigan, Florida International and Old Dominion.

the coaches offered University of Guelph (Canada) defensive back Devynn Cromwell this week. the 6-foot-1, 197-pound defender now holds offers from your Red Raiders, Southern Mississippi, Arkansas State, Eastern Michigan and West Virginia.

the coaches offered Middle Tennessee State offensive lineman Sterling Porcher this week. the 6-foot-4, 304-pound lineman entered the portal this Wednesday and now holds offers from your Red Raiders, Georgia Southern, USF, Georgia State and Appalachian State.

official visits this weekend

@B. Golan put together a very detailed list and there are three (3) pages of discussion in the thread, so definitely check out those details

but the coaches are set to host eight (8) official visitors this weekend, all transfer or JUCO prospects that could provide immediate help or depth at various positions

a lot of these names are listed above as 'new' offers over the past week...

TE Alex Lines - Garden City C.C.
OL Justin Myers - UTEP transfer
OL Easton Kilty - North Dakota transfer
OL Alan Herron - Shorter transfer
OL Maurice Rodriques - Saddleback College (JUCO)
DB Jovon Jackson - Fairmont State transfer
DB Isaiah Crosby - Trinity Valley C.C.
DB Devynn Cromwell - University of Guelph (Canada)

the common theme here would be immediate additions, because all of these visitors will visit schools over the next 2-3 weeks and commit/sign in December, then enroll at the school of their choice in January

a few of these guys are really blowing up - see Myers, Herron for example - and these will be interesting stories to follow over the next few weeks

McNamara accepts Reese's Senior Bowl invite

what a week for Austin, not only was he named to the Big 12 conference First Team and the Special Teams Player of the Year award, the standout punter was invited and accepted an invitation to the Reese's Senior Bowl - the premier postseason bowl game for prospective NFL prospects leaving the college game and entering the NFL Draft

McNamara is a punter and maybe not the 'sexiest' position to talk about in football...but I feel we will be saying his name and talking about his NFL career for several years to come

congrats to Austin!
