TTU RECRUITING THIS WEEK
there were a few new offers made, the TTU graphics department is back again with a weekly edit, the Rivals national team updated the 2025 rankings and we look at some of the TTU targets...
new offers
the Texas Tech coaches were the first to offer Frisco Lone Star 2027 athlete Karece Hoyt this week. the 6-foot-2, 200-pound freshman plays quarterback for the Rangers - finishing week one with 70 yards passing, 85 yards rushing and two (2) touchdowns.
the Texas Tech coaches offered Hastings 2025 defensive end Smith Orogbo this week. the 6-foot-5, 215-pound junior now holds three (3) total offers from your Red Raiders, Houston and Arkansas State.
the Texas Tech coaches were the first to offer Fayette County (Georgia) 2025 athlete Trennedy Whatley this week. the 6-foot-3, 180-pound junior is a dual sport athlete that runs on the varsity track team. Whatley lists a 4.35 second 40-yard dash time.
the Texas Tech coaches offered Texarkana 2026 defensive tackle Duncan McGhee this week. the 6-foot-5, 295-pound sophomore now holds two (2) early offers from your Red Raiders and Texas State.
TTU Recruiting Edit of the Week
another week, another recruiting edit shared with Bryan wide receiver Terrence Lewis...a top target in the 2025 recruiting class.
a few Week One highlights from TTU commits
this was not enough for SOC against Duncanville, but this is two straight weeks of Trey Jackson winning a 'go get it' ball in the redzone
Esquerra shared 3-4 of these videos with the captions, seems like a very confident kid who loves to hit...great qualities for a safety
Ponton gets a bit overlooked for whatever reason, but the 6-foot-7 tackle has the frame and tools for the coaches to develop him into a monster
big people beat up little people...6-foot-6, 250-pound DE commit Edward Smith was disruptive in week one
last one...Hutto QB Will Hammond scored seven (7) total touchdowns - six (6) passing and one (1) rushing, earning the Panini 6A player of the week
Rivals updated 2025 Rankings
the national team released the updated rankings for the 2025 class this week, and this is a look at the updated Rivals 250 to see which junior prospects the Red Raiders are targeting...
No. 11 - S Jonah Williams
No. 24 - OT Michael Fasusi
No. 27 - OT Lamont Rogers
No. 36 - WR Andrew Marsh
No. 46 - DT D.J. Sanders
No. 56 - WR Adrian Wilson (Oregon commit)
No. 59 - DE Michael Riles
No. 65 - DE Malcolm Simpson
No. 68 - RB Deondrae Riden
No. 71 - WR Jacorey Watson
No. 75 - OT Ty Haywood
No. 78 - LB Riley Pettijohn
No. 90 - APB Tory Blaylock
No. 94 - DE Kamauryn Morgan
No. 96 - DE Chad Woodfork
keep in mind this is the Rivals 100 and each prospect listed has 20-30+ offers, but each of these young men hold an offer from Texas Tech.
I would say that guys like Rogers, Simpson, Haywood, Morgan and Woodfork are all guys who seem to be taking the Red Raiders into serious consideration at this point.
I expect the coaches to continue recruiting Adrian Wilson despite his commitment to Oregon.
No. 119 - ATH Lance Jackson
No. 122 - LB Kelvion Riggins
No. 133 - LB Elijah Barnes
No. 147 - TE Kiotti Armstrong
No. 150 - WR Taz Williams Jr.
No. 155 - WR Deion Deblanc
No. 165 - WR Jaden Perez
No. 167 - CB Micah Strickland
No. 169 - RB Michael Turner Jr.
No. 182 - WR Daylon Singleton
No. 184 - WR Kaliq Lockett
No. 199 - DT Zion Williams
No. 207 - DE Landon Rink
No. 211 - RB Cornelius Warren III
No. 215 - DE Max Granville
No. 219 - OT Logan Schram
No. 237 - CB Cobey Sellers
No. 238 - QB Ty Hawkins (TCU commit)
I would say that Strickland, Lockett, Williams and Schram are very serious targets for the Texas Tech coaches in this class.
I expect the coaches to continue communicating with Ty Hawkins despite his commitment to TCU.
the 2025 class will represent the third 'full' year for McGuire and his staff to recruit at Texas Tech. there are 33 prospects listed, all in the Rivals 250 national rankings, who hold an offer from the Red Raiders and I would wager a bet that at least half of them have already visited Lubbock over the past 1-2 years.
with another winning season and a show of improvement on the field, McGuire and his staff could capitalize in a big way for the 2025 class.
I like Strickland and Lockett as future Red Raiders, several others who are seriously considering Texas Tech at the moment...fun times to follow recruiting.
this was a very quick overview of the rankings, please take a look and let me & @B. Golan & @J. Gonzales know if you have any questions.

Week One is here!!!
everyone please read and analyze this graphic, then submit a written response of 500-1000 words...mmkay?
I do not know what any of this really means, but I know we will all be watching football this weekend. no full analysis of the game here, talking season is over and stumbling blocks/road issues aside...I'm expecting the Red Raiders to out-athlete the Cowboys in Laramie this weekend, and I believe a big day can be expected of the defense. I love the matchup for the DL, who can cause havoc and help create turnover worthy plays for the secondary.
I was listening to a podcast earlier this week, someone mentioned that Tech was -14 on the road - said to bet your mortgage on that spread...so you know what to do (jkjk, I don't gamble, please bet responsibly and legally)

Shrine Bowl Director of Player Personnel visits TTU
Eric Galko shares some praise for TTU Football after visiting the program earlier in the week. The Shrine Bowl is a close second to the Reeses Senior Bowl, in terms of selecting the top prospects going from college to the NFL each year.
another tough injury for former TTU great Jakeem Grant
Grant was injured and carted off the field this week. It was announced that he will miss his second straight season after breaking his patella.
we all wish Grant a full and speedy recovery, was cool to see Mahomes on hand to console Grant in such a tough moment.
ACC makes a move in the realignment race
fresh off the presses this early Friday morning, the ACC has officially extended invitations to Stanford, Cal and SMU.
the Ponies are reportedly not receiving any TV rights / contract dollars for the first nine (9!) years of the agreement. it is also reported a group of SMU alumni and donors are footing the bill for this nine (9) year stretch in an attempt to recoup SMU's proverbial 'seat at the table' in college football moving forward.
realignment don't stop, can't stop and won't stop...not even a day before week one kicks off - I love college football.
the ACC now has 18 teams, does that keep Clemson and Florida State happy? what does it all mean, we now have nation wide conferences and some interesting travel schedules in the college sporting world.
I love the move for SMU, considering they have been down since the death penalty days - you know, when paying players was super against the rules. they have the DFW location and ability to field transfer targets from other major conferences looking to 'come home', much like TCU and Houston.
