Found this gem from my time at the DT my freshman year. This would be November 2013. The Tech team showed is the ‘13-‘14 squad coached by Tubby Smith.
CRAZY to me to think that that is what the Tech program looked like not too long ago. Take note of the USA’s emptiness and the overall size/athleticism (or lack thereof) of the Tech team in the video. Even the things considered “highlight” material is kind of laughable to me now.
Tech would go on to a 14-18 (6-12) record, finishing 9th in the Big 12. Your leading scorer/rebounder was a 6-7, 210-pound senior Jaye Crockett (13.9ppg, 6.4rpg). Your second leading scorer was a 6-7, 240-pound junior Jordan Tolbert (10.7ppg). Your assists leader was Robert Turner at 2.6 per game.
Fast forward just a few years and Texas Tech is playing for Big 12 and National Championships, beating number 1 teams, and pulling in 5-star talent. Wow.
Guns Up!
