I am looking for a new project in my life to keep me busy and engaged. I would like to build a small block Ford as part of my intro to at-home engine building and then find a project vehicle later down the road to put said motor in and have as a fun weekend hot rod. I would be looking at a budget of around 7-8k for this build. As far as horsepower goes, whatever max I can get out of said budget would be great. Not looking to build a grudge race car or bracket car, just a badass street machine. For now, the goal is to get familiar with engine building and my timeline to get started would be either this fall or next spring.
Does anyone on here have any advice or recommendations for evaluating between the 302 and 351? Any reputable engine builders out there that would be kind to offer consultation? I am located in Fort Worth. Thanks!
